Met Éireann warns of more severe winds

Met Éireann has issued a new weather warning this evening, predicting strong gales in many parts of the country.

A Status Orange Wind Warning has been issued for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Cork, Kerry and Limerick

South to southwest winds are predicted to reach mean speeds of 65 to 80kmph and will gust 110 to 129kmph.

Freezing temperatures and heavy rain is also expected overnight.

The bad weather conditions are causing travel disruptions, with many cancellations for ferry crossings over the next two days.

Fast Ferry sailings between Holyhead and Dublin have been affected, however cruise sailings on that route are still scheduled.
