Met Éireann warns of further flooding

Met Éireann has warned of the possibility of further flooding this evening.

Strong winds and thundery downpours are expected again in the east and south of the country - the same areas worst-hit by last night's heavy showers.

Joan Blackburn of Met Éireann said that coastal areas are particularly at risk.

"Any time you get a thundery downpour you can have flooding, local flooding," she said.

"Those thundery showers will be giving localised flooding at it's coastal fringes, due basically to the strong onshore winds and high tides, that are most at risk of flooding."
