MEPS request Christine funding for Midlands and north-west
Irish MEPs have requested funding from the EU Solidarity Fund to help repair damage caused by superstorm Christine.
Jim Higgins MEP met Commissioner Johannes Hahn, who controls the fund, to discuss various options which would enhance Ireland's application.
The application focuses in particular on the Midlands and the north-west.
The fund does not cover private losses, but Commissioner Hahn has been asked to recognise the undeniable link between private and public losses, for the farming community in particular.
