Memorial service today for those lost at sea
24/12/2009 - 08:20:43A memorial ceremony for those who have lost their lives at sea will be held in Dun Laoighaire in Dublin today.
The annual ecumenical service will take place at the lighthouse at the end of the east pier at midday.
The commemoration has taken place every year since a Christmas Eve disaster in 1895 in which an entire lifeboat crew of 15 volunteers was lost off Blackrock in gale-force winds.
