Meadhbh McGivern father fears repeat of botched transport plan

The father of Meadhbh McGivern has said not enough has been done to prevent a repeat of the controversy surrounding his daughter's botched transfer for a liver transplant operation.
The case of the Co Leitrim teenager made headlines last year, when transportation issues meant she missed out on a life-saving operation in London.
She successfully underwent the surgery two months later.
A HIQA report into the series of events that led to the initial cancellation found a number of bad decisions had been made.
Meadhbh's father Joe has told TV3's 'MidWeek' programme that he fears the debacle could be repeated.
"It's like an accident waiting to happen,"
"I would like to think that something like that wouldn't happen again, that the authorities are more aware, but having said all that, 17 recommendations were made - to date, I don't know how many, if any, of those recommendations are actually carried out.
"I know there is a monitoring body there to oversee this, but again, I'm not aware of any of these recommendations that actually have been carried out."
