The North's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness says he believes the Real IRA has a limited, but dangerous capability.
In a statement yesterday, a masked member of the Real IRA told a crowd in a Derry cemetery: “The Queen of England is wanted for war crimes in Ireland and not wanted on Irish soil.”
He added that the police were “as liable for execution as anyone regardless of their religion, cultural background or motivation”.
Martin McGuinness says these dissident groups had three main objectives - to destroy the peace process, to break up his working relationship with first Minister Peter Robinson, and to turn back the clock on policing, none of which he says is achievable.
He said the police in the North would be working to figure out the identity of the masked man, using voice-recognition techniques.
"I've no idea who that individual was…but the police will know within a mater of a few days," he said.
