McGuinness: NI parties want power to fix taxes in North

The North's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness says the five parties in the Stormont Executive believe the time has come for the British Parliament to give greater fiscal powers to the Northern Ireland administration.

It comes as the British Prime Minister David Cameron has promised to give greater powers to Scotland in the wake of the independence referendum.

Mr McGuinness says politicians in the North would like to set some of their own tax rates.

He said: "I think as a result of the engagement which I hopefully think we will find ourselves in, I think there's no doubt that fiscal matters will feature during the course of those discussions."
