Finance Minister Michael Noonan is being accused of behaving like John Wayne over a proposed deal on the debts of Anglo Irish Bank.
The technical group said that the coalition is about to embark on a humiliating deal that will place the debts on our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
They insist that Ireland should tell the ECB that we will never pay the money, but that is something Michael Noonan says he will not do, as it would be regarded as a default.
Independent TD Finian McGrath said that Minister Noonan needs to change his attitude.
"We cannot have a situation where Michael Noonan, the Minister for Finance, is walking around like John Wayne, telling everyone in the Cabinet [that] he's dealing with the issue, he's trying to sort it, without bringing people with him," he said.
"We need strong, decisive leadership, on this particular issue, and we need Michael Noonan and we need the Government to stand up and be more strong on the debt issue."
