McDonald stands over naming politicians in alleged tax evasion

Sinn Fein's Mary Lou McDonald insists she was right to name a number of politicians in a dossier of alleged tax evasion in the Dáil last December.

She used Dáil privilege to name several former Ministers and TDs.

Deputy McDonald says she hasn't received any letters from either the Ceann Comhairle or the Committee on Procedures and Privileges, but insists she was right to raise the matter:

"I haven't had any correspondence … when I receive that correspondence I will study it. I didn't breach the rules. If they claim I did, I would like to see the basis for that claim. … I did not.

"I exercised my Dáil privilege, and I absolutely stand over that decision."
