McAleese to view 2012 Olympics site

President Mary McAleese will see the site of the Olympics during a two day trip to London, it emerged tonight.

President Mary McAleese will see the site of the Olympics during a two day trip to London, it emerged tonight.

Ms McAleese will begin her official visit to the British capital next Sunday by being the guest of honour when London Irish rugby team take on Harlequins in the Madejski Stadium, Reading.

In the evening, the President will spend time at the Reading Irish Centre.

On Monday, Ms McAleese will visit the site of the London Olympics and later meet members of the Irish Council for Prisoners Overseas to mark its 25th anniversary, officials said.

The President will then visit the Hammersmith Cultural Centre and attend a business and community reception at the Embassy of Ireland before she returns to Dublin.
