The Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin has said the latest opinion poll results will not lead to a leadership challenge in Fianna Fáil.
The research shows support for Taoiseach Brian Cowen has slumped to 15% while 85% of people are dissatisfied with the Government and support for Fianna Fáil is at a record low of 17%.
Ministers are insisting the dismal results do not threaten the stability of the Government but the opposition said the coalition has no authority to remain in office.
Mr Martin admitted the numbers may fall even further but insisted the Government will weather the storm.
