Martin highlights importance of third-level qualifications

Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin has identified quality education as the most important factor to help Ireland remain competitive in the face of rampant globalisation.

Mr Martin was speaking at the launch of the latest labour market review from FAS, which shows Ireland's workforce has surpassed two million for the first time in the history of the State.

"I couldn't say enough to schools and to parents out there that you're medium-term agenda for your child or young person is to get them a qualification and a significant qualification at that," he said.

"That's the only way we can actively come out the right side of the globalisation phenomenon that we're witnessing at the moment.

"There is a revolution going on around the world and it's as big if not bigger than the industrial revolution."
