Marchers to protest downgrading of Waterford hospital

A protest march will take place in Waterford city this afternoon against proposals to downgrade Waterford Regional Hospital.

The demonstration will begin at 12 noon Ballybricken Green.

It is feared the services at the hospital could be downgraded as a means to cutting costs within the health services.

However the Health Minister James Reilly has said that he is committed to keeping both cancer and trauma services in place at the hospital.
