The body of a man has been recovered off the coast of Co Donegal this morning.

The body of a man has been recovered off the coast of Co Donegal this morning.

Local fishermen came across the body and the wreckage of a small boat just after 10am off the coast of Malin Head.

Malin Head Coastguard and the Coastguard Helicopter are at the scene.

It is understood there was only one man aboard the vessel, but coastguard crew are carrying out a search to ensure there was no one else onboard.

Station Officer at Malin Head Coastguard Dennis Maloney said: "(We) got a call from a local fishing boat to say they'd spotted debris and a small diesel slick in the water off Inishowen Head. One casualty was subsequently recovered from the water."
