Man to appear in court over Geoghegan murder17/08/2012 - 07:09:25
A 30-year old Limerick man is to appear before the Special Criminal Court this morning charged over the murder of Shane Geoghegan.
The 28-year old rugby player was shot dead near his home in Limerick on November 9 2008, in a case of mistaken identity.
Last February 26-year old Barry Doyle from Portland Row, Dublin was sentenced to life for the murder of Shane Geoghegan.
He was convicted by a jury who found he had shot the rugby player as he walked home in the Clonmore Estate in the early hours of the morning.
Now a second man is to be charged in connection with the murder four years ago.
The DPP has directed that the man appear before the Special Criminal Court rather than at a District Court.
