A 20-year-old man is to appear in court tomorrow charged in relation to the death of a man following a serious assault in Tallaght in the early hours of New Year's Day.

A 20-year-old man is to appear in court tomorrow charged in relation to the death of a man following a serious assault in Tallaght in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The suspect is scheduled to appear at The Criminal Courts of Justice Number 2, tomorrow morning charged in relation to the death of Dale Creighton, who died in hospital earlier today.

Mr Creighton was attacked at a pedestrian bridge on St Dominic's Road at about 4 am on New Year's Day, and had been on life support in Beaumont Hospital.

Gardai investigating the death have arrested three further males in their early 20s this evening.

A 27-year-old man who had been detained was released earlier tonight without charge.

A total of eight people have now been arrested in connection with the death. Five people including the man who is to appear in court tomorrow remain in custody in various garda stations in south Dublin.

Two have also appeared in court today and one was released without charge earlier tonight.
