A man is in hospital after he was shot in county Meath last night.

A man is in hospital after he was shot in county Meath last night.

It happened on the Drogheda side of Slane village between 9.45pm and 10pm last night.

The 39-year-old man answered his front door and was shot a number of times in the upper body and his leg.

Emergency services were contacted and the injured man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he is currently being treated for his injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

The scene of the shooting is currently preserved pending a Garda technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Navan Garda station or through the Garda confidential line.
