A man has been shot dead in Limerick.

A man has been shot dead in Limerick.

The man's body was found in an open area at the Kiltearagh housing estate at around 1.45am this morning.

The man is believed to have suffered gunshot wounds.

His body remains at the scene which is sealed off for a technical examination.

The identity and age of the man is not known at this stage.

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is due at the scene later this morning.
