It is reported that the man shot dead in Dublin yesterday had been under the surveillance of his killers.
Paul Kavanagh was shot dead in an attack as he sat in a Volkswagen Passat on Church Avenue in Drumcondra at around 11.30am yesterday.
It is believed his killing is linked to gangland crime.
Following the shooting, the suspects set their getaway car - and Audi A3 - on fire after it crashed into a wall.
Two people were seen running from the scene in the direction of Tolka Park and back in towards the city centre.
Superintendent Finbarr Murphy of Ballymun garda station said they were not yet sure how many people were involved in the murder.
"There may be more than two people involved. We don't know att his stage," he said.
