Man rushed to hospital after serious attack in Tipperary village

A man has been arrested after an attack in Co Tipperary left another man in a serious condition in hospital.

The victim is believed to be in his 60s and was discovered at a house at Kilcaroon outside the village of Ballyporeen yesterday evening.

It is understood he had suffered serious head injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

The scene was cordoned off for a forensic examination.

A male (aged 18) was later arrested in Cahir and is being detained at Cahir Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

He can be held for up to 24 hours before being charged or released.
