A man has been remanded in custody in relation to the rape of two children in Athlone in Co Westmeath.

A man has been remanded in custody in relation to the rape of two children in Athlone in Co Westmeath.

The 30-year-old man from the midlands has appeared in Harristown District Court in Roscommon.

He has been charged with the double rape of each of two girls aged six and nine, at an address in Athlone on September 28.

He has been remanded to Castlerea Prison.

The man will appear in court again on November 8.
