Man remains seriously ill after Offaly assault
A man remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning following an assault in Co Offaly.
The man - who is in his 50s - sustained serious head injuries during an attack which occured on the Main street in Birr at around 3pm yesterday.
He was air lifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition is described as serious.
A 17-year-old male was arrested in connection with the incident and is being held at Birr garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
