A 28-year-old man has died after a car crash in Co. Tipperary in the early hours of this morning.

A 28-year-old man has died after a car crash in Co. Tipperary in the early hours of this morning.

It happened at Rathronan in Clonmel at around 1.20am when a car in which he was a passenger hit a ditch.

The 20-year-old driver was taken to South Tipperary Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area between 1am and 1.30am to contact them.
