A 38-year-old man is in intensive care after being stabbed in the heart in Cork city.

A 38-year-old man is in intensive care after being stabbed in the heart in Cork city.

The man was stabbed three times after a row at Croaghtamore Square in Glasheen around 1.30am yesterday morning, and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He remains in a serious but stable condition at Cork University Hospital, after emergency surgery yesterday.

Gardaí are investigating the assault, and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
