A man in his 20s has been left fighting for his life following a serious assault in Dublin at around 4am this morning.

A man in his 20s has been left fighting for his life following a serious assault in Dublin at around 4am this morning.

The man suffered serious injuries as a result of the assault carried out at a pedestrian bridge in Priorsgate, Saint Dominic’s road in Tallaght, by a number of suspects.

He was taken from the scene to the Adelaide & Meath Hospital and later transferred to Beaumount, where he remains in a critical condition.

A 23-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were arrested and are currently being detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
