Man held in connection with 2011 Dublin stabbing

A man has been arrested over a frenzied knife attack that left a solicitor fighting for her life.

Violet Quigley was critically injured during the vicious assault in her home in Donaghmede Park, north Dublin, more than two years ago.

A Garda spokesman said a man in his 30s is being questioned as a result of further information obtained by the investigation team in Coolock.

The suspect was arrested in Dublin city centre early this morning and is being detained at Coolock Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Ms Quigley, 46, worked as a solicitor for the ESB and had been living in the area for several years before the attack on April 8 2011.

Detectives were probing if the stabbing in the quiet suburban estate was connected to a burglary at the same house some days earlier.
