Man found guilty of murder has 118 previous convictions

A Limerick man has been found guilty at the Central Criminal Court of the murder of Martin Purcell who was found dead with 41 stab wounds at his home.
It took the jury nearly five hours to reach the majority 11 to 1 verdict convicting Gerard Manning with the fatal killing at an apartment on Wickham Street between September 28-30, 2011.
The 33-year-old, with an address at Upper Gerald Griffin Street, has 118 previous convictions.
The jury heard evidence that two fingerprints in blood at the scene matched those of the accused.
He is now facing a life sentence.
