Man found dead in cell in Youghal Garda station
24/12/2004 - 09:54:08A young man has been found dead in a holding cell at Youghal Garda station in Co Cork.
The man, in his 20s, had been brought in for questioning at Youghal Garda station in connection with a road traffic incident at 10pm last night.
However, he was found unconscious a short time later and rushed to Cork University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
A post-mortem will be carried out later.
The tragic death is the second in a Garda cell this week. Earlier in the week a father of six was found dead in his cell at Kilkenny Garda station. His death was ruled not suspicious.
