Man due in court on Monday in Monet painting damage case


A 47-year old man is due to appear in court on Monday morning, charged in relation to criminal damage to a painting at the National Gallery yesterday.

The Monet piece, which dates back to 1874, was damaged shortly before midday.

The man, who was arrested after the incident, is being held at Pearse Street Garda Station in Dublin.

The painting was hanging in room 10 in the lower base wing of the gallery at the time.
