A 27-year-old man is due to appear in court in Cork this morning, in connection with an assault on a man whose body was found in a refuse chute in an apartment complex in the city.

The man was arrested on Tuesday and brought to the Bridewell Garda Station for questioning about a fatal assault on 59-year-old Liam Manley.

A post-mortem by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster, confirmed he had been the victim of an assault.

Officers have been studying CCTV footage from the North Gate Apartment complex in the city, to try and establish Mr Manley's last known movements and who he entered the complex with.
