Man dies in Monaghan house fire


A 61-year-old man has died in a house fire in Monaghan.

The blaze broke out at the premises at Corvoy, Tullycorbett, in Ballybay earlier today.

The man's body was found at around 2.30pm.

The fire was confined to the kitchen area and had extinguished itself by the time it was discovered.

Gardaí have said that they are treating the incident as accidental.

A post mortem examination will take place on the body tomorrow at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
