Man dies following Lucan shooting

A man has died following a shooting incident in West Dublin this evening.

The incident happened at a house on Earlsfort View in Lucan at around 7.30pm.

The man, who is in his 40s, was removed to Tallaght hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

A burnt out car was found in Glen Vale in Lucan, and Gardai are now investigating the possibility that this may have been used in the shooting.
