Man dies after Newport stand-off
A man has died following a shooting incident in Co Tipperary.
It's understood there was a stand-off between the man and gardaí, who were called to the town of Newport at around 7.30pm this evening.
The scene of the incident has been preserved for a technical examination.
The Garda Ombudsman's office has been notified.
A spokesperson has confirmed that investigators have been sent to the scene.
