A young Tallaght man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a teenager in a drive-by shooting almost two years ago.

Melanie McCarthy McNamara, 16, was gunned down as she sat in a parked jeep at Brookview Way in Tallaght on February 8, 2012

Daniel McDonnell (aged 19) of Brookview Lawns in Tallaght pleaded not guilty at Central Criminal Court this morning.

A jury of six men and six women was then sworn in by Mr. Justice Paul Carney and the trial, which is expected to last at least a week, starts tomorrow.
