A 46-year-old man has died following a industrial accident in Co Louth.

A 46-year-old man has died following a industrial accident in Co Louth.

The incident happened at the Premier Periclase plant on the Boyne Road in Drogheda at around 3:30pm.

It is believed the victim sustained head injuries.

The man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have launched an investigation.
