A 29-year-old man has been charged in connectoin with a fatal hit and run on Dublin's north side yesterday.

A 29-year-old man has been charged in connectoin with a fatal hit and run on Dublin's north side yesterday.

A 50-year-old man lost his life when he was struck by a car while walking down North Street in Swords in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man was left for dead by the side of the road and an appeal was issued for witnesses who saw a dark coloured Volkswagen Golf leaving the scene in the direction of the Old Airport Road.

Investigating gardaí are also anxious to speak to two women who reportedly took a lift in that car between 3am and 3.30am yesterday.

The 29-year-old man in custody will appear in the Criminal Courts of Justice on Dublin's Parkgate Street tomorrow at 10:30am.
