Man arrested in connection with disappearance of Irish vet

Police in Wales investigating the disappearance of an Irish woman have said that a man who was arrested last night on suspicion of her murder was known to her.

37-year-old Catherine Gowing from Clonlee, Clareen near Birr, moved to Wales after qualifying as a vet.

She was last seen on Friday evening, leaving work in Mold in Flintshire.

Detective Superintendent John Hanson from North Wales Police said that members of Ms Gowing's family have travelled to Wales to assist them with their enquiries.
