A man has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a bookmaker outlet in Co Louth.

A man has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a bookmaker outlet in Co Louth.

A masked man entered the store on Main Street in Dunleer at 5.30pm yesterday evening, threatened staff and demanded cash.

He left the scene empty-handed.

A man was arrested a short distance away.

He is due to appear before Dundalk District Court this morning.
