Man arrested after jeep driven through dole office entrance

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after a jeep was driven through the door of a dole office in Donegal.

Extensive damage was caused in Buncrana when the 4x4 mounted the steps of the building at around 11 last night, before crashing through the front entrance.

The vehicle was being pursued by Gardaí at the time, after an earlier crash in nearby Muff when the jeep struck a pub.

The male suspect was originally arrested for road traffic offences and later released, but he was rearrested afterwards for criminal damage.

He is currently being questioned at Buncrana Garda station.

The Toyota vehicle involved remains at the scene, which is sealed off tonight for a forensic exam.

No one was hurt during the incident.
