A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary and assault at an apartment in Limerick overnight.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary and assault at an apartment in Limerick overnight.

A man entered the apartment on Lower Glenworth Street shortly after 1am where two men were stabbed and cash and mobile phones were stolen.

The men, aged 22 and 23, were taken to University Hospital Limerick and their injuries are not life threatening.

The 34-year-old man was arrested nearby and is being held at Henry Street Garda Station.

Some property was also recovered and investigations are continuing.
