Gardaí have made an arrest after an attempted armed robbery in Dublin yesterday evening.

Gardaí have made an arrest after an attempted armed robbery in Dublin yesterday evening.

A man armed with a gun entered a supermarket at the Newtown Industrial Estate in Coolock at about 6pm and threatened staff.

No-one was injured and the man left the scene empty-handed.

A man in his mid-20s was detained during a follow up search and was taken to Coolock Garda station for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
