Man accused of armed robbery at Dublin bookmakers

A man has appeared in court today charged with an armed robbery in Dublin.

Noel Reddington of Lissadell Green in Drimnagh, Dublin 12 is accused of having a loaded gun at a bookmakers outlet in Rialto yesterday afternoon.

During lunchtime yesterday, Gardaí responded to reports of an armed robbery at a Paddy Power outlet on the South Circular Road in Rialto.

In court today, Detective Garda Mark Melbourne said it would be alleged that €1,835 was stolen.

He told Judge John Coughlan that he arrested the accused Noel Reddington at New Ireland Road at 1.15pm yesterday afternoon

The 29-year-old is facing two charges – robbery and possession of a firearm with criminal intent.

When Judge Coughlan asked if the gun was loaded, Detective Melbourne said it was.

He also indicated there would be an objection to bail, but Mr Reddington’s solicitor said they were not making an application at this stage so he was remanded in custody by consent and is due to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday.
