A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Co Monaghan in 2016.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Co Monaghan in 2016.

He was arrested in Dundalk, Co Louth yesterday and is detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station.

He is expected to appear before a special sitting of Monaghan District Court at 7.30pm today.

The fatal house fire happened at St. Macartans Villas, Carrickmacross on March 21, 2016, at 1.30am.

A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
