Major security operation planned for OSCE council meeting

A major security operation is being put in place in Dublin for next week's meeting of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

The OSCE Ministerial Council is the largest international gathering of its kind staged in Ireland with over 1,500 delegates attending the event.

Fifty foreign ministers, including the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, will take part in the two-day meeting at the RDS Simmonscourt arena.

Superintendent Barry O'Brien says there will be traffic and parking restrictions from Monday morning until Saturday around the conference venue.

"A major security operation will commence at the RDS and surrounding areas from 6am on Monday 3rd and concludes on Saturday 8th of December.

"This will involve a number of parking restrictions, road closures, diversions and some traffic disruption."
