Convenience chain store Mace is to create 1,200 new jobs with the expansion of its network over the next four years.

Convenience chain store Mace is to create 1,200 new jobs with the expansion of its network over the next four years.

Mace intends to open 100 new stores nationwide as part of new strategy that will grow the business by 20%.

The chain said its shops had outperformed the market to become the fastest-growing brand in Irish convenience retailing.

Mace opened its first store in 1960 and currently has 240 shops across the country.
