Banking Inquiry chairman Ciarán Lynch has said that members will hold extra meetings - including over the Christmas period - if that is what is needed to produce a final report.
Extra sittings are likely to be held between Christmas and New Year's Day to produce the report, after the first draft was heavily criticised by members.
The report, written by the inquiry's staff, was said to contain many contradictions, and left out major passages of evidence.
However, Fianna Fáil TD Michael McGrath said that there are huge limitations on what the inquiry can actually say.
"If I believe somebody acted recklessly during the banking crisis, and if that question as put to that person in the course of evidence and they denied acting recklessly, then it's not open to the committee to actually conclude that that person acted recklessly," he said.
