Longford gardaí investigate armed robbery at post office

Gardaí in Co Longford are investigating a post office robbery in Edgeworthstown.

Two armed and masked men entered the premises at around 9.30am today.

One of them was armed with a hammer and the other with a knife.

Staff were threatened and the men made off with a sum of cash.

Gardaí are not revealing how much was taken but it is not believed to be a substantial amount.

They are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
