Local Authority members working under management of Irish Water vote for industrial action

Local Authority members working under the management of Irish Water have voted for industrial action to prevent the privatisation of the service.

Some 91% of staff attached to SIPTU and 84% of TEEU members voted in favour of action, up to and including work stoppages.

The unions said that the dispute centres around the threatened displacement of water service workers by private contractors.
