Live register numbers fall by 3,500

The number of people on the live register fell by 3,500 last month.

The live register includes casual and part-time workers, which make up 20% of the total number.

40,000 fewer people were signing on in June when compared with the same time last year. The total number now signing on is 305,600.

There has been a 13.6% decrease in the number of long term claimants over the past year to 143,832, according to CSO figures.
