A Limerick man has been killed in a domestic disturbance in the US.
The deceased is father-of-two Jason Paul Corbett, 39, whom police believe died following a domestic disturbance at his home.
Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), North Carolina, are investigating Mr Corbett's death, which occurred early Sunday morning on Panther Creek Court in Wallburg.
The DCSO received a 911 call, at 3.05am, Sunday, in regard to an incident at 160 Panther Creek Court.
When police arrived at the house, they found Mr Corbett inside with head injuries.
Mr Corbett is said to have been discovered by police, unconscious and unresponsive.
Davidson County paramedics responded to provide medical aid, however Mr Corbett was pronounced dead at the scene.
Davidson County Sheriff David Grice, said detectives are investigating a blunt force trauma death.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing
Police said no-one outside of the home is being sought in the case.
"There are persons of interest within the family," Sheriff Grice said in a statement.
"We are currently still investigating and waiting for autopsy results," he added.
Shocked loved ones and friends of Mr Corbett, posted a plethora of online tributes and messages.
Mr Corbett's sister has described him as her "best friend".
In an emotional tribute, Tracy Lynch said she would always be supportive of her brother.
"You may be miles & miles away for now, but this is what you need to know. This is what I need to say, so J when your feeling lonely lying in the dark. always know I ve got your back," Ms Lynch wrote on Facebook.
"Because not only are you my brother, your my best friend. xxx," she added.
Ms Lynch said her family were "totally devastated".
She described her brother Jason, originally from Janesboro, Limerick, as "the most caring, loving brother and friend".
Mr Corbett's twin brother Wayne had recently visited his brother in the States.
Three days before his bother's death, Wayne posted pictures of their holiday online, telling family members they "had a great time".
Close friend Bernadette O'Donoghue said: "Oh Wayne am so very very sorry for your loss an pain love n hugs to you and all the family xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
The deceased wrote on his Facebook page: "I have 2 great kids, Jack is 6 and my little princess Sarah is 4 and my beautiful Wife."
The page added that Mr Corbett's favourite quote was: "Don't complain about growing old as some people dont get the chance".
